Food is culture. It identifies a people just as much as language and customs.
language and customs, often being part of the traditions of a people.
Culture includes not only the culinary part but also politics, science and especially the artistic activities that characterise the life of a given society at a given time in history a given historical moment.
Therefore, if food is culture, and culture being art, food can also be considered art.

Silvestro Regina
Painter and goldsmith sculptor
From San Severo, born in 1958, painter and goldsmith sculptor, he held his first personal exhibition at the Verdi Theatre in San Severo when he was only 15 years old.
The drawings, paintings and portraits earned him the appreciation of both public and critics.
The meeting with Professor Sergio Benvenuti, a sculptor of international renown, a master of art and life, was fundamental for his training. It was a determining factor in Regina's professional path, which led him from sculpture to micro-sculpture, to the cutting and engraving of precious stones and to the goldsmith's art, in which he later became an undisputed master.
He has collaborated extensively with other artistic expressions, as he did in the theatre with the creation of an impromptu set for Emanuele Italia's play "Viaggiando Unitamente Separati". In the field of journalism he has worked with "Picchio Rosso", "Area", "Attacco" and other publications as a cartoonist and editor, as well as being a creator, green designer and established designer of parks, gardens and sustainable urban furnishings. His numerous awards, prizes and reviews have attracted the attention of the major national and local networks: he has been mentioned by RAI, La Repubblica, Il Corriere, La Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno and many others.
His encounters with Cesare Padovani (a multifaceted artist, writer and poet) and Alfredo Bortoluzzi (a direct pupil of the great Paul Klee) were of great influence. His many works include "I Murales" in Peschici, a graphic translation of La notte della Taranta completed in 1993, on the occasion of the first stage of the event. Worthy of mention is the Ostia Magna monstrance, created for the 2004 Eucharistic Congress, a work housed in the Diocesan Museum of San Severo and judged by leading critics to be one of the most modern works of art dedicated to worship.

Sangro, Prince of San Severo and Duke of Torremaggiore, in the mid-1700s.
A well-known scientist and member of the Accademia della Crusca, he was an alchemist, inventor, esotericist, and eclectic character who left behind wonders in the San Severo Chapel in Naples, where statues of rare beauty can be admired, including the most famous: the Veiled Christ and Pudicizia (also known as Veiled Pudicizia), represented by diamond-pointed graphic engraving with pure silver leaf, is dedicated to Cecilia Gaetani dell'Aquila d'Aragona, mother of Raimondo di Sangro, who died in December 1710, less than a year after the birth of her son.
The statue was made by Antonio Corradini, already the author of the Decoro, of the monument to the sixth Prince of Sansevero Paolo di Sangro and of the clay sketches of many of the other works, for which he had studied the iconography with Prince Raimondo.
The snake, thus the symbol of medicine is born.
He discovered the origin of the image that identifies the art of healing: it is linked to Asclepius, son of Apollo.

Why is the symbol of medicine a snake coiled around a stick?

The answer lies in ancient fables. And it calls into question the divinity who for the Greeks was the patron saint of medicine: Asclepius. A hymn attributed to Homer invoked him as "the joy of mankind, the one who knows the incantations to avert horrendous suffering".
But the god who restored health to mankind had a very unfortunate personal fate. His birth was already an ominous sign: Asclepius was the son of Apollo and a mortal woman, Coronis.
a mortal woman, Coronis. The latter dared to betray the love of the god, and moreover to unite herself with a common man.
According to the myth, it was the raven that ratted him out, telling Apollo everything. In a fit of rage, he turned the previously white raven black. Then he killed Coronis, and tore from her womb the child she was pregnant with: Asclepius, who was entrusted to the wise centaur Chiron. From the centaur he learned the medical arts. But he went too far in his love for humanity.
Asclepius began not only to heal but also to resurrect men. Among them was Hippolytus, the unhappy hero who was put to death by his father Theseus because he was unjustly accused of trying to seduce his stepmother Phaedra.
But what about the snake? A myth tells us that one day a snake wrapped itself around Asclepius' staff: the god killed it immediately. But another snake came along carrying a medicinal herb in its mouth which healed the slain animal.
So Asclepius learned to raise the dead, and the staff with the snake became his symbol.
But Zeus, the father of the gods, could not tolerate these resurrections: they violated the rules of the cosmos and defied the laws of fate. He therefore incinerated Asclepius with his thunderbolt. Apollo, in revenge, killed the Cyclops, the one-eyed giants who forged Zeus' lightning bolts in their caves.
